Edwina Bary

I am a Behaviour Support Practitioner with a strong background supporting children, adolescents, and adults with complex behavioural, developmental, and mental health needs. Before transitioning into behaviour support, I gained my experience working in residential youth care and disability services, supporting individuals with diverse and complex needs. My practice is grounded in positive behaviour support, trauma-informed care, and person-centred approaches, with a focus on improving quality of life for participants while working collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.

I hold postgraduate qualifications in Human Services and am currently completing a combined Master of Social Work and Master of Mental Health Practice. I am passionate about continually expanding my knowledge to ensure my practice reflects current research, best practice, and the evolving needs of the disability sector.

Throughout my career, I have worked across disability, child protection, residential care, youth justice, and family support, collaborating with participants, families, educators, allied health professionals, and support teams to develop practical, person-centred strategies that create lasting and meaningful outcomes.

My approach is built on genuine connection, curiosity, and compassion. I believe every behaviour communicates a need, and I am committed to understanding the person behind the behaviour rather than simply responding to the behaviour itself. I strive to empower participants to build independence, strengthen relationships, and achieve their goals while supporting those around them with practical, sustainable strategies.

Above all, I believe every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and empathy. My goal is to help people live safer, more meaningful lives by creating environments where they feel understood, valued, and supported to reach their full potential
