Improved Daily Living

One of the primary purposes of NDIS is to improve the participant's daily living by assisting right at the comfort of their homes and in other spaces where the participants often stay. Since the participants and their carers will face day-to-day difficulties caused by the participant's disability, the NDIS provides support to help ease their lives by helping in meal preparation, personal hygiene, home repair, acquiring temporary accommodation, and transportation.

Assistance with Daily Life

Since individuals with permanent and significant disabilities will have difficulties doing a simple daily task, NDIS can support by helping with personal hygiene activities such as taking a bath, using the toilet, putting clothes on, or taking a meal.

Improved Living Arrangements

To help the participants improve the quality of their life, NDIS will help by providing a secure settlement to make living more at ease for the participants and their carers. In addition, if the participant is renting an accommodation the service offered by the NDIS will be extended to provide a secure settlement.

Improved Health and Wellbeing

Other than the services of improving the participant's daily lives, NDIS also aims to help the participant to care for their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The support plan that will be provided to the participants will be tailored to their specific needs and goals such as training at the gym or making a wholesome meal plan to achieve a healthier habit.

Improved Learning

The support provided by NDIS will help the participant to improve and develop the skills they need to be able to live their lives to the fullest and eventually become self-dependant. Since each participant has different needs and condition, the training programme will be tailored based on their condition, existing skills that need improvement, and skills they lack that needs to be developed which they can learn at their own pace.

Improved Life Choices

NDIS understands that the participants may have difficulty making the right choices for their lives but a necessary skill to achieve their goals. As a result, the participants will be guided in developing skills related to task management, money, reaching out to healthcare providers for other relate NDIS support.

Improved Relationships

NDIS aims to support the participants achieve healthy wellbeing and social relations towards their family and community. NDIS will fund support suited to the participant's needs such as family therapy, behavioural therapy, and activities related to social development.

Consumables

The consumables are provided to the participant to cover the cost of essentials items that are needed for daily living such as continence aids and wholesome products. With this support, the participants can acquire essential products to improve their daily lives.

Transport

Due to the participant's disability, they might have difficulties using public transportation. The NDIS can help by providing transport assistance to be able to go on with their lives. However, the use of transport assistance has its restrictions and certain travel needs may not be covered.

Assistive Technology

NDIS also provides their participant with assistive technology to improve the success of achieving daily tasks. This is done by providing equipment products to assist with mobility, personal hygiene, and communication.

Home Modifications

NDIS can also provide funding to modify the participant's residence to make it safe and livable based on their specific needs and condition. Essential products can be installed on the participant’s residence such as bathroom rails and stairs chair lifts.

Assistance with Social and Community Participation

To improve the participant's social relationship and motivate them to partake in events, NDIS can help by assisting in accessing community events and activities that are suited to help improve the participant’s condition.

Increased Social and Community Participation

NDIS Services are performed through recreational activities where the participants can meet new individuals and socialize. Through the group activities, the participants can participate in their local community.

Coordination of Supports

All eligible NDIS participants will be assisted to connect to a registered NDIS service provider in their area to make sure that the treatment plan is based on their needs and goals.

Finding and Keeping a Job

NDIS will assist the participant to find and keep a job to be able to live independently. The NDIS funding can be provided in the participant's workplace to assist them in adapting to their work and develop further to keep their jobs. Referrals will also be given by the NDIS throughout the community to help the participants.

Although the NDIS encourage individuals with a disability to acquire their services, there are eligibility criteria that have been set to avail of the NDIS Services:

  • Ages 7 to 65 years old

  • Residents and citizens of Australia

  • In need of special treatment caused by a permanent and significant disability

  • In need of services and support to lessen the needs in the future
